Description
We have an immediate client need for a Assistant Controller seated within the manufacturing sector and located centrally in the Fraser Valley. This role will appeal to those who may have had previous experience with Syspro, who is a dynamic leader with existing experience in team leadership and customer service.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual operating results for the Canadian and US operating entity?s Including the generation of meaningful metrics to track and measure results.
* Prepare monthly financial statements including ongoing monthly review and corrections (journal entries and reconciliations).
* Perform budgeting and forecasting.
* Generate reports of performance against budgets.
* Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets and assist with preparation for any audits.
* Provide strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision making.
* Monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures.
* Maintain and improve the accounting processes to drive waste and inefficiencies from the systems including, working with operations to define, measure, analyze, improve and control current processes which impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency.
* Work with sales and manufacturing teams to establish, track and report product pricing, costing and margins.
* Support new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective.
* Monitor and assist with the consistent collection of receivables by refining and implementing control mechanisms.
* Monitor compliance with external vendors for timely and accurate payments.
* Oversee cash flow requirements.
* Evaluate and recommend insurance coverage.
* Ensure areas of key risk are monitored on an ongoing basis (i.e. inventory accuracy).
* Promote and maintain positive corporate relations with the financial community.
* Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
To be considered for this exciting role, you must possess the following:

Education and Experience:

* University degree in Business/Accounting, with advanced degree or professional accounting designation (such as CA, CPA, CGA, CMA) preferred.
* Minimum of 3 years? experience as an Accountant with exposure to manufacturing environments
* Extensive experience and knowledge of corporate accounting and financial management
* Financial analysis and some strategic planning experience
* Knowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniques
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including queries and pivot tables
* Experience with SYSPRO an asset
Specific Skills:
* Demonstrated knowledge of financial statement reporting, cost accounting, GAAP and tax compliance
* Tact and diplomacy and practical knowledge of industry/company policies, practices and procedures
* Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to deal with constantly changing requirements and priorities
* Problem solving, decision making, critical thinking skills
* Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role
* Able to adapt to and learn new software
* Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
* Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
