According to human resources (HR) managers, how helpful it is to receive a thank-you message after an interview:

  40% Somewhat helpful
  38% Not helpful at all
  17% Not very helpful
  2% Very helpful
  2% Don’t know

But how many HR managers reported receiving notes from applicants?

Only 28%

According to HR managers, the following are appropriate methods for applicants to thank an interviewer*:

  87% Email
  86% Phone call
  77% Handwritten note
  5% Social media
  1% Some other method

Most common way HR managers have received a thank-you note**:

  54% Email
  26% Phone call
  13% Handwritten note
  2% Text message
  2% Social media
